Sunbonnet Sue Pattern: Block 10, Y2K Sue "Youv'e Got Mail, Sue!"

Y2K Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Pattern
The Internet was first conceived in the early 1960’s. The Department of Defense began a small network to promote the sharing of supercomputers among researchers in the U.S. By 1973, e-mail among researchers quickly became the most popular application. A year later the first commercial version began; Queen Elizabeth went online with the first royal e-mail message.

In 1987, the number of internet host sites exceeded 10,000. Just nine years later on the 25th anniversary of the Internet, there are over ten million hosts with 40 million people connected to the Internet. The Internet has grown from a Cold War concept to the Information Superhighway, profoundly affecting the world we live in.
